Employee Self Service: Wait. I Don’t Have to do Everything?

This post is dedicated to all the human resources veterans out there who are so freakishly efficient at their job they can turn 20 hours of answering service calls, data management, or strategic planning into a mere 10.

I’ve got good news for you: go ahead and knock that down to 8 and go home on time tonight; It turns out there’s a few things employees, managers, and executives can do on their own.

Here’s a few things to think about.

1. Data management software is a pretty big deal these days, and SaaS (software-as-a-service) has made it super affordable for any size of business. If you’re using spreadsheets to manage data, you’re probably losing $$ in wasted time trying to keep them up-to-date and accurate.

2. Employee Self Service is a great way to take some load off of HR. Let employees login to their account to check time off accruals, request time off, look at a company directory, etc. Let managers have access to certain reports and documents and let them manage time off requests directly.

3. BambooHR not only has fantastic employee self-service features, but allows the permission settings to be customized clear down to which fields under which tabs can be accessed by a user. For Bamboo users, we encourage you to turn on employee self-service, and to everyone else, we invite you to check out BambooHR with a free trial.
