Why Work in Utah?

Love where you work. Love where you live.

We believe in working to live, not living to work. That idea is baked into our company values, and it’s one of the reasons we chose Utah as the home of BambooHR HQ. This beautiful state isn’t just a great place to work—it’s a great place to live.

A growing economy to support your growing career.

Utah has one of the fastest-growing economies in the U.S. and has maintained unemployment rates lower than the national average. Tech is booming in Utah; our tech center has even earned the nickname Silicon Slopes. You’ll fit right in with our innovative, motivated workforce—and you’ll love the cost of living compared to typical tech communities. It’s the perfect place to take your career to the next level.

Friendly for the whole family.

Family is a pretty big deal—literally—here in Utah, so we understand that spending time with your loved ones is just as important as putting in a good day’s work. And during that quality family time, you can enjoy some of the many kid-friendly attractions Utah has to offer. Plus, one study recently ranked Utah as one of the safest states in the U.S., so you can have extra peace of mind about bringing your family here.

My husband and I moved from California to Utah. When we were weighing the pros and cons of moving, the deciding factors were the opportunity for career advancement and a better cost of living. Our money goes further here so aside from our house, we have been able to pay off all of our other debts without any great sacrifice to our lifestyle.

Love the outdoors? Welcome to your new playground.

Love the outdoors?

Welcome to your new playground.

If you enjoy any kind of outdoor activity Utah probably has a gold-medal version of it. For the thrillseekers, there’s world-class skiing and snowboarding in the Greatest Snow on Earth, year-round climbing and bouldering for every skill level, and thousands of miles of mountain biking trails from Moab to Park City.

But perhaps best of all, Utah is home to not one or two, but five of the most renowned national parks in the U.S.: Arches, Canyonlands, Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Capitol Reef. That’s a whole lifetime’s worth of unparalleled hiking, sightseeing, and selfie-snapping opportunities, all within a few hours’ drive.

When it comes to natural splendor and outdoor recreation, you won’t find Utah’s equal anywhere else in the world.

My favorite thing about living in Utah is having easy access to all things outdoors. ...Since moving to Utah my lifestyle has drastically improved. I'm healthier financially, mentally, and physically. I always say that moving to Utah was the best decision I ever made for myself.

Fun for the indoor people, too.

Utah has more than plenty to offer those of us who’d rather chill closer to civilization. Into the arts? You can attend the Sundance Film Festival in Park City or the annual Cedar City Shakespeare Festival that both draw crowds from across the nation and around the world. From underground gallery openings and intimate concert venues to sold-out arenas and exhibits at the Leonardo, Utah has something to please every critic.

And if comics and gaming are your scene, you’ll love getting into costume for FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention, not to mention engaging with the hyperenthusiastic gaming community right here at BambooHR. Lunch battle, anyone?

Finally, foodies will be thrilled to explore the growing restaurant scene, sip award-winning creations from Utah’s passionate craft brewers and distillers, and splash out on gourmet treats and snacks from hundreds of local producers. You won’t know what to taste first!
